One of the things that makes the Harry S. Truman Legacy Symposium so special are the amazing speakers that present at this event. We have had scholars, politicians, diplomats…experts in their fields and keen observers of history. This year is no exception. With this year’s event just a couple weeks away, we thought we would introduce you to the folks who be part of the the 8th annual Harry S. Truman Symposium The Legacy of Harry S. Truman in East Asia: Japan, China and the Two Koreas.
James I. Matray is professor of history at California State University, Chico. His books include Korea Divided: The Thirty-Eighth Parallel and the Demilitarized Zone (2005), Japan’s Emergence as a Global Power (2000), and, as editor, East Asia and the United States: An Encyclopedia of Relations Since 1784 (two volumes, 2002). Dr. Matray served as Distinguished Visiting Scholar at the Graduate Institute of Peace Studies, Kyung Hee University, Seoul, Korea in 1990.
